The Alumni Association is doing fine. We continue to oversee the Chapter, finances are in order and the Reunion was a success. As for the rest of my goals upon becoming president, there are a few things that still need work.
First, we still have a problem keeping up to date with everyone. There are still a lot of Bro's who we have no information. Prior to the 35th reunion we made several telemarketing efforts to update our database. It helped, but we still need to do more. The best way we can keep track of everyone is to encourage all of you to use the website to keep us informed of any changes as well as the changes of others you know. The website address is www.dusdsu.org.
Second, and this one is easy, I would like to see us host more events. Golf tournaments are great, but send us some new ideas such as a really big party at Bill Deering's house or a trip to Tahoe. We can all crash at Joe Landstrom's place. You can always email me your ideas at dmaiolo@yahoo.com or call me at 858.202.0288 during the daytime. For certain, we will plan something soon. Possibly late Spring or early Summer.
The Chapter is doing well and continues to grow, the house is in good condition and the university is building like crazy so if you haven't had a chance to stop by, you really should. You may not recognize it.< Other than that, there is really very little to report. Hopefully this newsletter finds you and your loved ones in good health and good spirits. Take care.

Another Memorable Reunion
Last Fall we celebrated 35 years at San Diego State. For those of you who could not make the reunion, well, you missed another great bash. It was held at the Catamaran Hotel on beautiful Mission Bay in Pacific beach. Big thanks to Bill Deering for putting together such a memorable event. Don't get too comfortable, Bill, we're already looking forward to the 40th.
Another big thanks to John Little for playing emcee before the tough, unforgiving DU Alumni. Some of those jokes were actually funny.
As always, we started on Friday night with cocktails and grub. Some played on through until Saturday morning. That evening we gathered for dinner, presentations and dancing.
John Orendain and Ron Zappelli were recognized for their endless contributions to the fraternity over the years and Bill Deering received our first annual Lifetime Duck Award for his selfless effort and dedication not only toward the Alumni Association, but to the Chapter as well.
This reunion marked our first fundraiser/auction to help pay for a study room for the Chapter. Thank you to everyone who donated items. Your donations helped get us started on a fund that will really benefit the Chapter for years to come.
A few extra pounds, a little less hair, but we still know how to have fun; however, I don't know if we broke any alcohol consumption records this time, though the word is you 70's guys gave it your best shot.
For those of you who couldn't attend, there is always next time. Forty years at SDSU. What a great one that will be. We're looking forward to it already.

Old Site of Chapter House: Is it Haunted?
Students residing at Piedra Del Sol, the site of the old Delta Upsilon Fraternity House, have reportedly been accosted by a menagerie of apparitions.
There have been reports of hearing loud voices in the next room when the next room is empty. Residents have also said to hear someone walking within the walls of the building as well as the hallway. Inside the complex, there is also one door that will not stay shut, even after 2 x 4's and nails have been used. University officials deny such reports. It's still weird though.

Your Alumni Board In Action
For those of you who do not know, the Alumni Board currently consists of ten alumni who actively participate in the on-going demands of our association.
We meet on a quarterly basis as a group, sometimes more frequently at the committee level, and deal with thedynamics of the alumni association, chapter development, university expansion, international visits and IFC issues.
The Chapter officers are in continual contact with the alumni board. They provide us with regular reports regarding the status of the chapter, member grades, rush, member education, athletic and social accomplishments, finances and pledge education.
The alumni board has also created scholarship programs for undergraduates, fundraising campaigns and house improvement programs. And of course, we host events such as golf tournaments, anniversary BBQ's and reunions.
There is a lot to do so if any of you would like to lend a hand, please email us at dmaiolo@yahoo.com . The Alumni Board is a great way to stay in touch with old friends while doing something positive for others. Lets keep the brotherhood strong and the momentum going.
